During the summer vacation of 2019, BIA participated in the initiative “Buki di prèt.” This innovative initiative is a booklet handed free of charge to every child attending elementary school on the island of Bonaire, containing different vouchers for fun and educational activities during the summer vacation.
BIA offered guided tours of the Flamingo International Airport every Wednesday morning. A total of 137 children registered and participated in the airport tour. These tours were adapted for children of 4 to 12 years old and were offered free of charge.
Mrs. Joelle Louisa, Terminal Service Officer at BIA, coordinated the “Buki di prèt” registrations and was the tour guide for all the guided tours. Mrs. Louisa provided Bonaire’s children with interesting information about our airport and aviation. The guided tours covered: the public hall, Aviation Security Office, Ticketing Office, Check-in Area, Departure Hall, Immigration, Aviation Security Screening of passengers, VIP Lounge, Hold Baggage Screening area, and the Arrival Hall.
After the guided tour, Techno Bar offered the children a drink and a snack. The children also received a gift from BIA in the form of a cup and reusable straw, keeping in mind Bonaire’s environment and Bonaire as a Blue Destination.
On Thursdays, BIA offered different “vacation plan” organizations the opportunity for guided tours. A total of 100 vacation plan children participated in the guided tours of the Flamingo International Airport.
BIA would like to thank all children and parents who chose to participate in the guided tour at Flamingo International Airport. We enjoyed your enthusiasm and hope you had a great time and learned a lot.
